Studying in the UK offers excellent value for money
Tuition fees for an undergraduate degree in Britain start at around $12,000 - $15,000 per year. Graduate students who want to study in the UK can expect to pay in the region of $13,000 - $22,000 for a 12 month program. For students who wish to pursue Study Abroad programs across the pond Tuition fees are $6000 - $10,000 per semester.
Annual Accommodation and Living Costs in the UK
In addition to the above tuition costs, you will also have to consider accommodation and living costs. US students are guaranteed on-campus accommodation for their first year of studies in Britain at all of Across the Pond partner universities, whether graduate or undergraduate. Housing costs vary from £33.00 to £90.00 per week on-campus. Total living costs are approximately $10-15,000 (per year) including accommodation, food, books, transportation and social life, so depending on what you are going to be studying and where, expect total costs for all your expenses for the year to be around $22,000 - $35,000. For most undergraduates, expenses will be at the lower end of this estimate.
Scholarships with the Best Universities in Britain
Scholarships are rarely available in the UK for full undergraduate studies, but are more common at Masters level (though they are only partial). There are a few available from our British partner universities, but these are only partial and do not cover the full amount for your tuition fees. There are external agencies that provide scholarships for US students who want to study abroad in the UK - we can help you with information about these. However, you should not expect to be able to obtain UK based scholarships to pay for your studies. They will of course help with some of the cost, though rarely over $4000 per year.
US Financial Aid Information
The Across the Pond UK partner universities have undergone an approval process to be recognised by the US federal government as foreign institutions that US students can come to study and use their financial aid in the UK. You will need to apply for your Financial Aid in the US before you arrive in the UK. On your application form you should list our British partner universities as your choices of institutions you want to study at (you can list more than one), so that our partners will then receive your information from the US government regarding your financial aid package. Your Across the Pond study advisor can provide you with the codes for each of the universities that are required for your FAFSA application form.
Work While You Study in the UK
